Please join your Pickerington High School North school counseling team as we hold our inaugural Senior Bootcamp event for the Class of 2027.  This event is designed for students only and will help seniors get a strong start on their post-graduation plans. This half-day event will provide students with hands-on support for college applications, essay writing, and postsecondary planning, as well as opportunities to learn about workforce, trade, community college, and military pathways.  

The event will take place on August 19, 2026 from 8:00AM - 1:00PM, during our staggered start schedule. While seniors are not required to attend, we strongly encourage you to do so.  The sessions will be helpful regardless of your plans for after graduation.   By attending and working on your plans - you will be able to enter for a chance to win one of two iPads, college/career swag, and gift cards from local businesses!  Lunch will also be provided with an opporunity to network with the college, military, and career representatives at that time. 

Please complete the registration form HERE whether you plan to attend or not.  If you do plan to attend you will also select which sessions you plan to be a part of.  Please complete this form, using the student's PLSD account,  by Friday, August 7 so we can finalize room assignments for each session.

Session Descriptions

College Application Logistics (SchooLinks/Common App):  work on getting your Common App set up and connect it to SchooLinks.  We will review all the things you will need to know on these two platforms - how to request transcripts, letters of recommendations, etc.  

Application Essay Support:  Whether your essay has a good start or you aren't sure where to begin - this session is for you!  Join our senior English teachers and college admissions representatives to discuss what can help make your essay stand out and support you in the application process.  Please bring a draft of your essay if you have one.  If you would like to get started now, here is a link to the Common App essay prompts for this year.  

Mock College Application Review:  Join college admissions representatives to review sample applications.  Can you identify who was accepted, waitlisted, or rejected based on the application?  This can give you insight on how to make your application as strong as it can be.  

Workforce Information:  Karie Stone, from the Fairfield County Workforce & Development Center, and Michelle Sawyer, from PLSD, will be meeting with students who may be interested in the senior workforce programs and/or going into the trades after graduation.  If you have questions about the program, apprenticeships, and other ways to explore career tech and trade programs for your future - this session is for you! 

Military Information:  Join representatives from most military branches to learn about steps you will need to take to enlist and the variety of pathways and careers the military holds.  If you are college bound, but looking for different ways to fund your education - this could be a good session for you too!  While we will not be administering the ASVAB this day, it will be discussed.
